The day before, rain washed out plans to photograph a well-known Vermont church, but we noticed snow was forecasted for the next day in parts of Vermont and Upstate NY. We kept checking the radar, and sure enough, on a hike that morning, I spotted light snow dusting the treetops. Then, a friend sent a photo of even more snow nearby, and without hesitation, I grabbed a bagel, jumped in the car, and drove 2.5 hours to catch it. Arriving just as the snow began to melt under the sun, I finally captured the one shot I’d been after all year—the perfect snowliage scene. Captured moments before a break in the clouds, where the trees became alive, and the goal for the trip was achieved.
